The Corrosion Technician supports monitoring, testing, maintenance, and repair of corrosion control systems that protect metallic structures, including pipelines, storage tanks, and other facilities, from deterioration. Responsibilities include conducting fieldwork, collecting and analyzing data, troubleshooting cathodic protection (CP) systems, and ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect potential readings using appropriate tools based on environmental conditions.
- Support Close Interval Surveys (CIS) to assess cathodic protection effectiveness.
- Assist with coating defect identification and documentation during corrosion integrity digs.
- Support the installation and maintenance of CP systems.
- Record and report field data for subsequent analysis and review.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and adhere to job-specific safety plans.
- Prepare daily field reports, photographs, and sketches as required.
- Comply with all safety policies, environmental regulations, and company procedures during field operations.
- Collaborate with Corrosion Engineers and Integrity Specialists to recommend corrective actions.
Required Competencies:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
- NACE/AMPP CP1 (Cathodic Protection Tester) certification.
- Certified as a Competent Person for Excavation.
- Certified for Confined Space Entry as a Competent Person.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in corrosion control, pipeline integrity, oil and gas operations and maintenance, or a related field (preferred).
- Basic understanding of electrical safety and corrosion principles.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, maps, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, GIS platforms, or data collection software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation practices.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments under varying conditions
Quality and Safety Responsibilities:
- Conduct fieldwork in compliance with Vecor’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Quality Management Systems.
- Complete documentation in accordance with Vecor’s quality and HSE protocols.
- Ensure proper calibration and use of all assigned equipment.
- Immediately stop and report any hazards, incidents, or near-misses.
Authority and Decision-Making:
- Authorized to execute basic field tasks under supervision.
- Empowered to stop work in response to safety concerns.
